Banana River Resort’s captivating story begins in 1991 when it was established by Gregory and Beth Winkler. Beth, an alternate on the windsurfing Olympic team, had a vision for a unique resort designed for student and instructor training. Her love for windsurfing and the beauty of the Banana River would set the stage for something truly extraordinary. Word quickly spread about Banana River’s exceptional winds, convenient access, and industrial lines for windsurfing obstacle courses.
The resort became a global destination for windsurfers, offering a paradise of wind and water. But Banana River Resort wasn’t just about windsurfing; it was a canvas for passion and hobbies. The Winklers shared a love for pottery, gardening, and even caring for feral bunnies on the property. The resort, located on the Banana River, offering access to the Intracoastal Waterway, and just a stone’s throw from Orlando Beach on the Atlantic Ocean, was a haven for water sports enthusiasts of all kinds. Tragically, Greg and Beth passed away one week apart in November 2019, leaving behind a cherished legacy.
